Course 1: Use of iMinds test facilities w-iLab.t, including IMEC spectrum sensing engine and TCS WinnF transceiver API (heterogeneous ISM)
[<< Back to Training Days overview]
Abstract
The w-iLab.t testbed is a generic and heterogeneous wireless testbed.
The majority of devices in w-iLab.t are embedded PCs equipped with Wi-Fi interfaces, Zigbee sensor nodes and Bluetooth dongles. In addition, some advanced software-defined radio (SDR) platforms --- USRP and WARP, and imec sensing engines are also deployed. This makes w-iLab.t an ideal testbed for conducting cognitive radio experiment.
The w-iLab.t Zwijnaarde has adopted OMF as its testbed control and management framework. OMF allows experimenters to describe their experiments systematically, and offers data logging services and the ability to configure multiple devices via one central script.
The tutorial on w-iLab.t testbed consists of two parts:
PART 1: Basic w-iLab.t tutorial (Tue Jan 14, "Course 1")
Users will learn how to conduct simple experiments with OMF framework, and see how to remotely configure the cognitive components in w-iLab.t testbed.
PART 2: Advanced w-iLab.t tutorial (Wed Jan 15, "Course A")
Users will see how to operate more advanced sensing devices, such as imec sensing engine USRP, and WARP. In addition, we will also showcase how to utilize the TCS tranceiver API for USRP configuration. We will examine the different capabilities of the presented sensing engines in depth.
