CREW Training days 2nd edition - January 14-15, 2014

Submissions for this form are closed.

Objective

Participants to the CREW (Cognitive Radio Experimentation World) training days are offered the opportunity to be informed about the relevant achievements of the CREW project so far, and more specifically, about what CREW can offer to anyone interested in cognitive radio, spectrum sharing and cognitive networking solutions.

At the first day, informative sessions of the training days are targeted to prospective CREW experimenters, researchers in the field of cognitive radio and cognitive networks, regulators and standardization bodies. These sessions will comprise of basic hands-on courses or demonstrators which will learn you how to use the basic features of the testbed facilities. Next, on the second day, prospective experimenters and other interested participants will have the opportunity to participate in in-depth hands-on courses to explore the advanced features of the testbed facilities. The Training Days are open for all interested (future) experimenters.

The CREW training days not only provide an excellent opportunity to familiarize with the CREW facilities and cognitive components. It is the ideal forum to meet the CREW team and get an answer to all CREW-related questions you may have.

Program

Participation to the training days is free of charge (including sandwich lunches but excluding dinner). However, registration is required.  Please fill out the form at the bottom of this page to register...

Hotel

There are not a lot of hotels near the Zuiderpoort office where the Training Days will take place, but there are some in the centre of Ghent (which is also a very nice area). Unfortunately, we do not have special discount rates for hotels. We typically recommend the following hotels:

Travel

From Brussels Airport to the Training Days

At Brussels Airport, take the elevator to floor -1. You are now directly in railway station 'Brussel Nationaal Luchthaven' (Dutch for 'Brussels National airport').

There, you need to take a train to reach the railway station 'Gent-Sint-Pieters'. This journey will last for about 1 hour if you get out at 'Brussel-Noord' (also known as 'Bruxelles-Nord') and switch platforms for a train with destination 'Oostende' or 'De Panne'. Alternatively, you can take the train which cleary states destination 'Gent-Sint-Pieters' but this is a local train and takes about 1h30 (no need to change platforms in this case). More information about your train schedule can be found at the web site of the Belgian railways. (Fill in: "From: Brussel-Nat-Luchthaven [NMBS/SNCB]" ; "To: Gent-Sint-Pieters [NMBS/SNCB]".)

A train ticket (single, 2nd class) will cost you 14.40 EUR. You can buy this in advance online.

Once you have arrived in railway station 'Gent-Sint-Pieters', you go to the main entrance, where taxis are always available. Ask the taxi driver to bring you to the "Zuiderpoort". Alternatively, you will also find there the main bus station, where you can take bus 9, 27 or 96. You need to get out at bus stop 'Ledeberg Gaston Crommenlaan' or 'Ledeberg Eggermontstraat'.

When traveling via public transport, the most convenient would be to go to a nearby stop for tram line 4. There, take the tram and get out at stop 'Ledeberg Hundelgemsesteenweg'. Alternatively you will need to take a taxi.
